「Concresco」that photo-book was made by Dutch photographer David Galjaard.

It was only published 750 copies privately. This is ”Almost perfect edition”. What does mean “Alomost”. Because 150 copies were mistook in the printing process. the 750 copies including 78 of the special edition. But that was a trifling error so he published these as “Almost perfect edition” which was embossed on the back of cover.

It is interesting but I really think I wanted to the perfect one. When I went to Paris last year, I saw this book in the selling area of Paris Photo. Actually I thought that I was willing to buy it that time but It was first day of Paris photo so I did decide to buy next day. But this was failure. In the next day ,「Concresco」was announced the winner of “Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation photo-book Award ” I went to the bookshop but It was sold out except a sample. I have ordered it in Japan that’s why there is almost perfect edition in my bookcase.

The location of photography is Albania of East Europe which located in northwestward from Greece. After the world war Ⅱ, Albania took an isolation policy under the “Enver Hoxha” who was the communist leader. the country had build over 700,000 pillboxes in Albania cause they were under the delusion that is invaded by the other countries and they had plenty coal.
The pillboxes still exist in the country in spite of Albania that have democratized in the modern times. the people living life with pillboxes now. The country was said least developed country of Europe, but their are calm and peace. The scene including pillboxes are not so much a weird as a humor.

In Japan, Motoyuki Shitamichi made photo-book 「Sensou no katachi」which he took the left pillboxes in various district of Japan.
